Five years ago I found myself feeling tired and fatigued each day no matter how many hours of sleep I got the night before. When I did sleep at least 5 hours, I woke up feeling unrested and dreaded the thought of getting up. I started with the glass of wine to wind down, which soon turned into two glasses, then the entire bottle, pretty much drinking myself to sleep. When that started to fail, I added in melatonin and got up to 12mg. I went into my primary care provider's office at the time and we tried Trazodone considering my moods were on a low and I hated the way it made me feel.
I knew I didn’t want to get hooked on sleep aids, pills, and alcohol.
I went on eagerly trying to figure out how to get better sleep and have more energy and came across an article about meditation. I’d learned some meditation techniques before and had a very hard time staying focused during my practice. I would always start strong and then two minutes or so my lizard voice would creep up and distract the entire process.
One day while researching how to calm the brain I came across BrainTap Technology. I found a place near me that offered sessions and went in to see what it was like. Reading the name I imagined tapping into an untouched area within my brain and flipping off a switch. That would power down my racing thoughts, and from there, I’d get the best sleep ever! Well, it was actually an even better experience!

The headset itself fits comfortably like regular headphones. Led light waves fluttered through the ear pieces sending light waves into my brain directly influencing my brain wave patterns. As I sat calmly following the audio prompts I found myself relaxed, and serene. Imagining my life fulfilling my dreams. My first experience had to have been 20 minutes, but I felt like I had slept eight hours. It’s like a light switch came on inside me answering all of my pressing questions, allowing me to face my fears and get past them. I was hooked by that session and had to experience more. I ended up getting my own headset shortly after that visit as I wanted to have this experience at home.
There are over 700 sessions to play now, each having its own topic and task in how it helps to improve every aspect of your life.
My favorites are sessions to improve sleep, sessions to help awaken the brain and prepare you for a productive day, and mid-day sessions to restore calmness.
I even play the lullabies over Bluetooth speakers to put my son to sleep for his naps. Before heading to the chiropractor, I listen to the spinal decompression session which helps to relax me and my spine for optimal adjustments. When I am tense and worried, my BrainTap sessions always calm me enough, restoring my brain and allowing me to slow down and think with more mental clarity. I even travel with my headset, using it throughout flights as well.
Life is stressful. I'm well aware that we can’t escape stress entirely but it’s important to stop and take time to cope with events going on in our lives. This has been the best investment I’ve made toward my self-care. I continue to use BrainTap for myself, my family and encourage my clients as well!

How can I help heal my body? Hydrate your Health and Wellness Stay hydrated and lubricated for optimal mental health, gut health, joint health, skin, and hair health, and overall wellness! Drink clean water with a balanced amount of natural electrolytes and minerals. Remember balance and all things in moderation is key. Your body needs a balanced ph alkalinity versus acidity in certain instances so don’t go overboard with alkaline water! My rule of thumb is to drink half of my body weight in ounces each day, or at least 10 cups of mostly water and some water-based products such as tea. I’ve chosen to avoid alcohol, processed sugary drinks, or coffee and instead stick to green teas and herbal beverages when I need caffeine. Changing my water has transformed my overall wellness.
