Why Am I feeling tired, sluggish, or just not like my best self? You may need a gut check!

Did you know that the health of your gut could be influencing your overall well-being?

Ever wonder why you don’t get the same results as someone else you may know who has tried some fad diet or gym workout promising results?

Exercise, healthcare, diets, and life, in general, are not one-size-fits-all, and frankly what works for someone else may not work for you… and guess what, that’s attributed to your uniqueness!

We all have our very own unique microbiome, aka your bowel/gut community of microbes, or microorganisms that exist and carry out major functions within you to make you the unique individual that you are! We are built by our biome communities including the gut microbiome, but there's also our oral microbiome, which influences our digestive process starting in the mouth, and our skin microbiome which is our first line of defense resisting on the largest organ of the body... our skin. In my free Gut Health webinar, I provide a more detailed but concise breakdown click here

I like to begin with the gut microbiome as it is here within this community where so many important body functions are influenced. That’s right your gut health could very well be your overall health! The gut is responsible for the majority of the immune system, nutrient absorption, metabolism, and producing the body’s much-needed “happy chemicals” Dopamine and serotonin!- All of which are linked to your body’s ability to function at the highest capacity and hence the best version of you. Furthermore, the way your microbiome responds to certain foods that you eat is just as unique. To sum things up and not overwhelm you, knowing your gut microbiome and what it is doing can be the key to ridding you of brain fog, unwanted weight gain/loss issues, insomnia, fatigue, skin issues, and IBS symptoms (bloating, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, indigestion, etc.).

When I started my journey over 7 years ago, I wanted relief from brain fog, depression, insomnia, and excessive stressing… all of which my doctors, mentors, counselors, family, and friends attributed to my age, being a college student, dealing with trauma and boy issues, LIFE, etc…

"I practiced self-care, ate a good diet, became a vegan eventually, worked out regularly, and still did not feel like my best self."

I can honestly say I am finally getting somewhere close! Putting my gut health into perspective prioritizing sleep and my brain health has afforded me the clarity I need.

I ate a ton of spinach and found that tomato paste is the base for almost every sauce, but these two foods alone are not good for my microbiome… I would have never known had I not tested my gut health with VIOME. It’s an enlightening journey to be on and I am grateful to share it with you. When you are ready to embark on your unique journey to overall wellness, starting with your gut can be your key!

Miscarriage, unexpected: Help Coping with a loss

Finding out that I was pregnant was a joyful moment. I had all of the butterfly feelings in my stomach, eager and ready to embrace the journey of being pregnant again. We had our challenges unknowingly, trying to conceive for almost a year.   I knew something was different this time, I had actually remembered the day when I ovulated and what I felt that day. So when I saw my positive pregnancy test I was thrilled. I had recently found out my sex hormones were low, cortisol through the roof and I was feeling tired and  all out of whack, but somehow 2-3 weeks into some lifestyle changes and supplements, I was pregnant. I was ready to now start a new journey with my second child. It was a blessing and I was humbled. I felt grateful thinking I’d had a hard time doing this, but I fixed whatever my problems were. I did it again and that felt great.                          Then there were the stresses: all that we h...

Feel good self-care: masturbation

Check-in: "Do you enjoy sexy time?" Having a lack of desire, fear, or shame in expressing your desires creates anxiety, repression, and depression. Growing up I received mixed messages about sexual health. I learned early about my body and had an appreciation for it, but still, there was this shame, this fear of exploring and empowering my comfort and desires. I knew well how to please my man, and even what I liked but wasn’t able to openly express and experience it freely. Over and over I find my sex drive on a tangent whether it’s from increased stress, my husband’s stress, now having a son who is always around, hormones imbalanced so I’m either not exactly in the mood, or worse; I shame myself for even having sexual desires because of the current circumstances. After having my son, I’ve gone through tremendous body changes, hormonal imbalances, and other experiences that have all impacted my self-esteem. I used to be energized and ready to go jump on it in a heartbeat, wit...
